Dr. Retha Roux
Founder
Ten years ago, Dr. Roux immigrated to America, embracing new opportunities. When the world changed during COVID, it accelerated a vision to provide high-quality teleradiology services back to South Africa. This transcontinental connection remains at the heart of LunarRad’s mission, enabling the company to serve and support South African healthcare from afar.

Dr. JP van der Merwe
Associate Partner
Dr. JP van der Merwe is a South African specialist radiologist with more than 20 years of experience in diagnostic imaging. Qualified as a specialist in 2005, he brings extensive clinical experience and a strong commitment to accurate, clinically relevant radiological diagnosis. He currently practises independently in South Africa, with a focus on diagnostic excellence, professional integrity and high-quality patient care.

Dr. Febin Joseph
Academic Lead
Dr. Febin Joseph previously served as a consultant radiologist at Steve Biko Academic Hospital and the University of Pretoria, where she played a key role in the training of radiology registrars. She continues to contribute to radiology education by facilitating our peer review program and promoting high standards of reporting quality and accuracy.

Dr. Jacques-Robin Steyn
Clinical Director
Dr. Jacques-Robin Steyn brings experience in clinical leadership, acute care and diagnostic imaging to LunarRad. Before specialist radiology training at the University of the Witwatersrand, he served as Principal Clinical Manager and Hospitalist at Mediclinic Vereeniging, leading a high-volume emergency department. He later served as Radiology Registrar Representative at Wits and now focuses on dependable after-hours radiology services.

Lauren Jones
Practice Manager
Lauren is pursuing a degree in Integrated Health Science with minors in Psychology and Nutrition, combining her interest in healthcare with a strong understanding of wellness and human performance. Lauren hopes to use her education and experience to build a meaningful career in healthcare while continuing to inspire and support others in living healthier, stronger lives.

Dr. Dale Creamer
Director of Cape Town Interventional Radiology
Interventional Radiologist
Dr. Dale Creamer is a fellowship-trained Interventional Radiologist, EBIR-certified specialist, and
Director and Founder of Cape Town Interventional Radiology. He completed advanced training in
Vascular and Interventional Radiology at the University of Calgary, Canada, and is Head of
Interventional Radiology at Groote Schuur Hospital. He also leads the University of Cape Town’s
Interventional Radiology Fellowship Programme, with a strong commitment to advancing the
specialty.

Dr. Gary Peiser

Interventional Radiology Fellow
Dr. Gary Peiser is an Interventional Radiology Fellow at Groote Schuur Hospital and UCT Private
Academic Hospital. He completed specialist radiology training at the University of the
Witwatersrand and fellowship training in Pediatric Interventional Radiology at SickKids Hospital,
University of Toronto, with additional expertise in sclerotherapy for vascular malformations. He is
currently the second recipient of the Professor Steve Beningfield Fellowship and is committed to
advancing interventional radiology in South Africa.

Dr. Gercois Human

Interventional Radiologist
Dr. Gercois Human is a fellowship-trained Interventional Radiologist and Consultant Radiologist at
Groote Schuur Hospital, with expertise in interventional oncology, liver disease and image-guided
tumour treatment. He completed fellowships in interventional radiology at McGill University and
abdominal imaging at the University of Toronto. As part of the CTIR team, he has helped introduce
pioneering treatments, including cryoablation, to South African patients.

Dr. Jateel Kassim

Interventional Radiology Fellow
Dr. Jateel Kassim is an Interventional Radiology Fellow at Groote Schuur Hospital and UCT Private
Academic Hospital. He completed his medical degree and specialist radiology training at the
University of Cape Town and was appointed as South Africa’s first Interventional Radiology Fellow.
Trained under leading specialists in the field, Dr. Kassim is committed to advancing accessible,
evidence-based interventional radiology and bringing cutting-edge minimally invasive care to South
African patients.
